Federated Women's Club officers met April 30 in Mrs. R C Hodgson's home to plan a county wide 6th grade essay contest for fall 1975. Alumni reunion drive reports 400 reservations and growing

More than 400 paid reservations have been received for the alumni festivities on June 28 with more coming daily. Several classes remain unrepresented, and the committee asks those lacking to send a $5 plate check to Lyle Jacobs. The next alumni meeting is set for Saturday May 10 at 2 pm at the civic center and all class chairmen are urged to attend.

Call 1-800-362-2190 within Iowa from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays. after hours, messages are taken for next day replies. The service guides housing, transportation, meals, health, finances, employment and more.

Area residents to graduate from WIT Graduation exercises for students at Western Iowa Tech community college will be held Thursday, May 15, 8 p.m. at East high school in Sioux City. Zigmund Chwirka, Woodbury county attorney, will deliver the commencement address. Among those graduating are Bruce A. Lennon and Laurence G. Stibral of Akron, who will receive associates in applied science in data processing analyst. Marion Harris, Westfield, will receive a certificate after completing the nine month program in data processing programmer.

Mel Lubben Cited For Fraternal Insurance Excellence

Mel Lubben of Sioux City was honored at the 1974 annual convention of the National Association of Fraternal Insurance Counselors held May 2 at the Sheraton-Dallas Hotel in Dallas Texas. He serves as district representative for Lutheran Brotherhood Life Insurance Society and received a certificate of recognition for over a million dollar volume and quality business. He has completed extensive training and three examinations and has worked as a local representative since 1970.

Nancy Kelley daughter of Mr and Mrs John Kelley of Westfield Iowa received the Iowa Federated Women’s Club 1000 scholarship on April 15 in Des Moines. Nancy a Westfield Eligh School senior tops her class and participates in basketball management plays co editor of the school newspaper yearbook staff and more. She also earned a top state speech rating and the Betty Crocker Homemaker award this year.

Former Akron Resident Wins at Texas Office Education Meet

Brenda Erks, a former Akron resident and Parkland High School junior in El Paso, earned second place in the office duplication master preparation contest at the Office Education Association of Texas annual conference in Dallas. Multiple Sclerosis Drive Aims To Aid Akron Area

The northwest chapter of the National MS Society runs its annual May drive between Mother's Day and Father's Day to fund patient services and education in Akron. Sixty percent stays locally, while the rest goes to national HQ for research. Since 1946 the society has allocated millions to aid patients and research, aiming to uncover a cause and a cure.
