A local notice announces subscription rates for a weekly Akron publication. Four year term priced at 2.6 dollars per month with 1.3 dollar monthly option. The paper is published every Thursday and entered at the post office as second class mail on Sept. 26, 1901.

Miss Mary Spaulding of Westfield dies after illness. funeral in Sioux City led by Rev. George Pullman. Local exams and rural schooling updates, weather effects on farming, L.G. club spring dance May 13 at Stone Park, and spelling contest advances with Omaha Bee-News banquet attendance.
Mrs L V Gant and son Pat visited from Geddes S D with her parents Mr and Mrs T A Dennison. The Tuesday club thrift sale cleared almost twenty dollars from clothing and lunches. The high school and junior high held a skating party at Riversioux. Mrs Rose Shearer returned home after weeks with her sons Fay and Thos Shearer in Sioux City and is improving. A musical treat in Com Ill featured Mr Everett Timm and Louise Paulson presenting for Westfield school with strong reception.
Miss Mary Spaulding dies at Sioux City Methodist hospital after two months of declining health. She was 23, daughter of Mr and Mrs E H Spaulding Jr, of Marshalltown, and a 1936 University of Iowa graduate. Final rites held at Christy’s funeral chapel in Sioux City. interment Logan Park cemetery.
Union Creek News reports Sunday services at 112 p.m and Sunday school at 10. Luther League meets May 11 at Luther Hall with Albert Anderson and Lester Seeley serving. The item lists numerous dinner visits among local families and visitors from Los Angeles and Vermilion, with residents and guests visiting homes in Hawarden Akron Sioux City and other nearby towns.
Plymouth county farmers and families will tour Town State College in late June to see the college at work. H H Jones county agent announces a nine tour series, with groups from about ten counties each. Grant Chapman extension specialist says plans and dates will be announced later after travel to Ames by auto.
The Social Security numbers are now accessible to every person over 65, regardless of employment status, per official information. The change expands access to pension and benefit programs for seniors.
The Des Moines Unemployment Compensation commission directs every employed person under the ruling to file at once at their local post office. Separate accounts will be opened for each worker, and the action is described as required by the commission.
The article explains unemployment insurance account numbers will be Social Security numbers and instructs workers 65 and over to apply in person at local post offices or via Des Moines.
