The Industrial Arts NE class at Akron Community School completed a camping trailer under Mr Billings supervision. Started in January, the project included design, frame work and wood construction. The trailer seats five, features a stove, foam mats, kitchen cabinets and folding sinks, and wears red and white paint with the name Red Raider. The camper is for sale at cost and contact is Mr Killings at the school.
Akron high school hosted a vocational night on April 17 with open house at 6 30 featuring student projects including a camping trailer by Industrial Arts II. The program opened with FFA ceremony and club creeds followed by awards to 25 students and leadership and honorary homemaker honors to local residents.
Fourth grade students study Pittsburgh and Bombay manufacturing, learn letter writing and verbs, and explore lines triangles and division. Science covers rocks and earth types with field displays, health topics on body functions, and biographical insights from Jefferson. Art projects decorate the gym and bulletin boards as 5-A and 5-B graphs progress.
Linda Nygard Darlys Willer Tada Levkluy and Donid Kueh attended the ASIA Convention at Ankenny on Saturday in Dawn.
Fifth and Sixth grade Language elattes conclude units on pronouns and their kinds. Class d-A pupils role played as Gold Rush pioneers to California and wrote diary entries. G-A class practiced vivid adjectives in descriptive paragraphs.
Items from 20, 40, 50 years ago include ALS track team at Dakota Relays in Sioux Falls with Akron boys placing second in mile and half mile relays, high school play Adams Evening, Bas eball win 7 0 over Westfield, births, transfers, and local notices from Akron and surrounding towns.
A collection of community notices records drafted men leaving for training in Kansas, a pastor’s four week vacation, births on May 2 and April 29 1908, a marriage in Akron on May 6 1908, a laundry business closure, a barber shop purchase, and Akron residents planning an extended Sweden visit.
A final report shows 1 043 farms in Union County signed up for 1968 ASCS commodity programs. Ralph Smith chairman said the programs cover wheat and feed grains. Signups ended March 16. County totals released from ASCS office list 1 042 farms under the 1968 Feed Grain Program signed up.
National and local figures show 1,500,869 farms signed to divert 94,203,080 acres, 49 percent of enrolled base. In Union County, 544 percent of total wheat times signed farms hold 7,619 acres or 80.1 percent of county allotment. Wheat loans and parity payments differ by diversion rules.
