Farm signup totals listed for Plymouth County programs

Plymouth County reports 1,601 farm operators signed up for 1068 Feed Grain and Wheat Programs under Cecil J. Kennedy. Total signed farms 1,884 across 198,019 acres of corn sorghum base, with 71,280 acres intended for diversion and 31,683 to be diverted for pay. Wheat signups total 46 farms with 845 acres allotted. county wheat allotment 1,010 acres. Special leases zero acres requested under substitution provision.

Plymouth County Cancer Crusade Sets 1968 Goal at 6415

Attendance at four Plymouth county cancer crusade fund kickoffs ranged from 24 to 37 volunteers across Kingsley Hinckley Akron and LeMars with Mrs. Harlan Rowe presiding. Education and publicity chairs outlined films and materials for schools churches and clubs. The 1968 Plymouth County goal is 6825, with last year’s effort exceeding 7,000, reflecting strong community support and per capita ranking. Gerald Chapman of LeMars Savings Bank is county treasurer, and memorials since September 1967 count toward the goal.
