John G Snyder, 71, Civil War veteran of the 8th Iowa Cavalry, dies March 4 in Sioux City after relocating from Akron area. Surviving wife, two daughters and three sons. Funeral at Wescott Chapel, burial in Floyd Cemetery. Also notes Everett Whittecar killed by accidental gun discharge near Kimball South Dakota. New births include a son to I G Givens and wife, March 12, 1917. daughters to Ole Roming March 4 1917 and to Mr and Mrs John Mueller March 14 1917. twins to Mr and Mrs W J Rounds March 10 and 11 1917. Marriages: Mary Gable and Dick Bohlken wed March 7 at LeMars Presbyterian Manse. George Waterbury visits from Woodburn Oregon. Matthew Agnes son of local residents shows notable playing. paddlefish and large catfish landed near Sibley bleeding into local notes.
