Ray A. Smith publisher announces subscription rates for one year two dollars six months one dollar and three months six hundred copies published weekly every Thursday at Akron Town and entered at the post office as second class mail matter on September 26 1901.
Visitors at the John Tapper home Sunday included Clair Morehead family and others. A large auction sale drew many to the John Gronemeyer farm. Various families visited homes in the area including Campbell Jeffers Borchers Kallsen and Hilers households. Ella Klemme celebrated a birthday with relatives and friends. Jesse Kallsen and family shopped in Sioux City Monday. Wilma Cassen visited Dorothy Tapper Sunday.
Westfield Middlings Special Correspondence reports Mrs. L. F. Taylor’s improving health and wishes for a speedy recovery. Sund ay guests in Sioux City included Mr. and Mrs. Ward Smith and children and Miss Mona Rozell at Herman Moss’s home. Port land and Westfield Home Project ladies met at Harvey Taylor’s. Pearl Sims supervised as H. D. A. in charge. Julius Willer hosted a surprise party for George Willer. Merva Rozell helped Mrs. H. Willer. Sympathy sent to Mr. and Mrs. Rene Lacroix of Sioux City on the loss of their baby. Lacroix’s mother Mrs. Agnes Blum visiting in Sioux City.
Union Creek church hosts a missionary program on Sunday March 21 at 8 PM. The Union Creek Ladies Aid plans a bake sale at Weidenfeller market on Saturday March 27. Ladies Aid meets at Luther Hall on Thursday March 25 with Mrs Hugo Granstrom as hostess. The column lists numerous local visitors and family visits in Union Creek area including Hultgrens, Swansons, Carlson, Ericson, Seeley, and others with various weekend trips and birthday celebrations noted.
The Forslund house welcomed Wednesday afternoon a visit to become acquainted with their nephew Master Forslund. Congratulations go to Mr and Mrs Walfred Forshund. Miss Hannah Sellberg traveled from Sioux City to handle business and visit relatives.
Special Correspondent notes Hancock township directors met Monday and elected two teachers for next year. Yvonne Beauchene stays at No 1, Hansen teaches No 4, with citations that two other candidates remain under consideration and will be named later. The item also covers local sports praise for Liberty basketball, Hin ton’s runner up finish, teacher moves, and various community notices including illness, travel, and social events.
R A Lander of Sloan Iowa spent the week in the Louis Bertrand home returning with his wife who had stayed with her parents Bernard Beaubien on way to CCC camp at Whiting Iowa also accompanied him home Wilbur Harrington of Omaha Nebraska spent the weekend in the home of his host for the stay

We met Friday night with 31 members present. We hope West field's working men join us Friday March 19 to boost membership. Our county meeting March 7 was noted.
Delegates attend from most areas except Westfield. W. 8. Triggs of Sioux City spoke about WPA efforts and state meetings held every two months. An open meeting is planned for Thursday March 26 at 7:30 p.m. to hear talks and share lunch. Local members urged to join and cooperate, with Hawarden and Elk Point noted for growing chapters. The national paper is expected next week, with about two million members across worker classes.
