Flax option included in 1968 Farm Diverted Acres plan
Cecil J Kennedy of the Plymouth ASC urges farmers to join the 1968 Feed Grain Program. Flax may be grown on 20 to 50 percent of diverted acres and is subject to soil and wildlife conservation rules. First 20 percent qualifies for corn price support and loans. Substituted crops yield half the diversion payment, with safflower and sunflowers nonpaying. Kennedy notes rising farmer inquiries as signup runs February 6 to March 15, 1968.
