Union County Farm Bureau Board Meeting Notes

The Union County Farm Bureau executive board met at Mr. and Mrs. Amos Eidema home on February 24. Routine business was conducted banquet plans reviewed and favors approved. Tickets to sell with report due by March 18 and banquet on March 24 at 6 30 p m Elk Point city auditorium tickets two dollars. Members urged to attend. Citizenship seminar at Watertown discussed sponsors students due by April 20. Top two thirds of class and junior or senior students only. Seminar August 3 7. Mrs Eidem served lunch.

Johnson Junior Homemakers Meet With Officers Installed

Johnson Junior Homemakers held a February 17 meeting at Karen Marilyn Nancy and Diane Rudei's home. Officers were installed. Talks covered Fundamentals of Fashion Facts and Fashion and the Style for You. A scavenger hunt served as recreation. Next meeting is March 17 at Joan Warenhorst and Mary Warenhorst homes.

Book and Thimble Club Meets in February Meeting

The Book and Thimble Club met February 25 at Vivian McPherson’s home with thirteen members present. The group discussed My Kind of Art and received details about the Plymouth County Federated Women’s Clubs Convention set for March 14 at Calvary United Methodist Church LeMars. Reservations for the noon luncheon must be made by March 11 via Penny Bryant. Gilliand spoke on the Great Plains School Reorganization Report with a Q and A session. Gwen Jurgens presented Traveling Art Exhibit of Iowa works, featuring twenty four paintings by Iowa artists with notices on painters and awards. next meeting is March 11 at Opal Hummel’s home with Lois Nelson’s program Bird Life Versus Dutch Elm Disease.

Western Iowa Tech Spring Quarter Starts March 10

Western Iowa Tech will begin its Spring quarter Monday March 10 with 9 00 a m registration at the Trinity building. Applications are still being accepted for Band Instrument Repair Clerical Training Machinist Meat Cutting Office Machine Repair and Piano Tuning and Repair. The placement season has begun with interviews held by London Division American Chain and Cable Co at Fairfield Iowa and invitations sent to prospective employers. Early returns indicate ample employment for all graduates this year with most students slated to graduate in August.
