Community recreation program expands for Westfield youths

The Harding families attend a windy day with gusts up to 95 mph while a new recreation program opens for children Tuesdays from 1 to 4 pm supervised by Stanley Lilly, Philip Bringman, Marceline Beaubien, Kathleen Welch and Patty Yates. Story hour stays Fridays 3 to 4 pm at the library and swimming classes shift earlier with buses leaving at 8 45 am on select days.

4 H Club Elects Officers At State Short Course

Larry, a longtime member of Lowest 4-H club with multiple leadership roles, seeks the presidency at the state boys 4 H annual meeting and 44 Short Course at Iowa State College Ames June 24 26. He will attend with 18 Plymouth county delegates and 2 leaders. The course theme is Serving as Loyal Citizens Through 4 H and includes a three day program with talks on Facing Military Service.

Cultivate Often Enough to Kill Weeds in Corn

Larry Michael 17 of Westfield has been named a candidate for a state 4-H office in Iowa. The selection came from a state committee and was announced to Plymouth County extension youth assistant James Nuss. He is the son of Mr and Mrs Robert Michael, among eight selected.

Cultivation Aims to Kill Weeds and Boost Yields

Mary Hansen, 82, died Tuesday at Bethesda Home near Beresford after a long illness. Funeral services were held Friday at 2 p.m. at Bethesda Home with Rev. Clifford Nelson officiating. Burial followed in Roseni Cemetery. Born February 11, 1870, in Elk Point, Dakota Territory, to Lars and Louise Hansen.
