Moniger family reunion at Akron Legion Hall in June

Mrs Winnie Bliss returned with her son Robert to Tulsa Texas for the Moniger family reunion held at the Akron Legion Hall on June 14. A string of local visits and events follow, including watch recovery on a Ray Welch farm, new baby announced for Westfield friends, and various relatives visiting from Akron Cherokee and Omaha. Notable notes include Mark Dreeszen returning from Washington to visit, Father Stone’s welcome party, summer staffing at Hawks grocery, and attendance at a music camp by Westfield students at Morningside College June 21 28.

4-H Educational Presentation Workshop Set in Lemars

A 4-H workshop on July 1 at the Fairgrounds Girls 4-H Building will begin at 2:00 with an evening session at 7:30. Janice Fulton Janet McNaughton and Shirley Eyres will lead discussions on Educational Presentations planning topic selection and methods to help members with their projects. All 4-H members leaders and clubs are urged to attend and bring at least one representative to each session.

Short course aims at lamb feeders in Iowa

A two day Iowa State University short course for lamb feeders is set for July 1–2 in Ames. The program covers feedlot layout contracting for feeder and finished lambs lamb marketing yield grading market news and ration formulation with a panel on rations and another on lamb procurement. Registration costs 10 dollars and includes meals.

Iowa state offers four summer school food service short courses

The Iowa State Department of Public Instruction with Iowa State University units announces four summer programs for school food service staff. Courses cover management, basic preparation, nutrition, sanitation and cost control, with sessions at the Ames campus and local area vocational schools. Courses run June 22 to July 31, with topics including menu planning, personnel, procurement, community relations, and meal requirements.

Craig Faulkner of Akron Iowa has been accepted into the Auto Tech two year program at Southern State College Springfield SD for fall 1970, leading to an Associate in Applied Science. North Sioux City forms new 4-H Club and expansion plan

A new 4-H Club starts in North Sioux City with about fifteen members at the first meeting. Plans call for new clubs at McCook Lake and Jefferson, with roughly 145 youths showing interest in joining 4-H in these areas. Entomology notes cover gnat and mosquito control methods, recommendations for Malathion and Sevin mixtures, and aerial Dibrom use around city and farm areas, plus army worm scouting guidance for farmers and a call to report infestations.
