Barker elected first chairman of Plymouth County Extension Council
Norman Barker of Preston township was chosen as the council’s first president at the June 14 LeMars meeting. Officers named were Earl Buss vice president George Knapp secretary and Dean Hurd treasurer. The new council will govern county extension programs and prepare the 1956 budget while temporary until December 31 1965. It will elect members for two year terms with staggered starts and supervise agriculture home economics and youth programs.
