Airman Carlson Selected for Training at Keesler AFB
Airman Ricky L. Carlson, son of Mr and Mrs Marvin G Carlson of route 2 Alcester, completed Lackland AFB basic training and was chosen for six weeks of personnel field training at Keesler AFB Mississippi. He studied the Air Force mission organization and customs and received human relations instruction. Training credits apply toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force. Carlson is a 1973 Beresford High School graduate.

Friendship and Service Club May Meeting Minutes
The Friendship and Service club met May 12 at Sue Mortensen's home with Vel Hazel as co host. Nineteen members attended to share program ideas for next year and discuss travel wishes. Penny Hartmann presented the Federation news flash. Reports covered the Gay 90’s baby contest project IFWC convention and the Federated Women’s Clubs of Akron scholarship awarded to Cindy Lou Anderson. Three Akron junior high students will receive $15 music camp scholarships. Decorations for the Akron Community Theatre dinner theater in June will be done by the club with co chairwomen Joyce Thorson Jeanne Hinrichsen Sue Higman and Evelyn Claesson. Members were reminded to begin the Reading program for next club year. Joy Dirks led a program reviewing the book How to Say No to a Rapist and Survive.
