Akron Midgets Headed for Le Mars Tournament

Akron Midget baseball players aged 9 to 16 trained weekly under Richard Prussing of Akron High School and will compete in the Le Mars Midget tournament at McDuffie Park starting August 4. The squad's only intercity game was a 9 to 7 loss to Le Mars. Local dances on Reed Street drew big crowds with Miss Luther leading callers and the Little German Band providing music.

Akron Ball Team Drubs Paullina in Sunday Game

Akron defeated Paullina 12 to 4 after a strong hitting display. Swift pitched well with seven strikeouts in six innings while Paullina starter Trapp struggled, giving way to Roggen. Mrs Dugdale Funeral in Sioux City at 2 PM

Mrs Fonita Sarah Dugdale 67 died Sunday at her Akron home after long illness. Born June 30, 1885 in Red Oak Iowa she married Samuel Dugdale in 1907. Survived by husband two daughters Elizabeth DePrato and Valma Ealey both of Sioux City five grandchildren and a brother T E Neudick of Red Oak. Akron group seeks bridge site near Pierre on Bay Sioux

A delegation from Akron led by Lincoln Tweet and Matt Schmidt visited Pierre to persuade South Dakota officials to locate a proposed Bay Sioux river bridge closer to Akron. State officials said funds are too tight to justify extra South Dakota roadwork for about nine miles.
