Rotary mower blades faster than airplane propellers
A Nebraska extension safety specialist warns that rotary lawn mowers spin at about 3,800 RPM and travel three to four times faster than airplane propellers. He cites common dangers including finger injuries while in gear, slips on grass, falls into moving parts, and bystanders struck by thrown debris. Rotary mowers are the most common type, making up about 80 percent of sales.
