The Akron baseball team crushed Hawarden 8 to 5 on the local diamond Sunday afternoon. Akron broke through with four runs in the fourth after two outs, added one in the fifth and another in the sixth, and finished with two more in the seventh. Hawarden managed a lone run in the eighth. B. Hartman pitched eight innings for Akron, with Metz finishing the ninth. Peck caught after recovering from a broken jaw. Hawarden’s scoring came on a hit by P. Plymouth County Organizes for Wheat Allotment Plan
Plymouth County wheat growers will organize to participate in the wheat allotment program under the Farm Adjustment Act. County Agent C. T. Thompson says township meetings will elect directors to form the county committee, which will oversee the plan and contracts to reduce 1924 365 wheat acreage by up to 20 percent for three years. Payments, based on domestic use, begin around September 15 and cover 1934 and 1935 crops.
