Akron Iowa to vote on municipal hospital property title

Notice of a July sixteenth 1956 special election in Akron Iowa by the Town Council to decide whether Akron shall accept title to the Akron Community Hospital property to establish a municipal hospital. Harry D Callahan Dies Former Elk Point Resident

Former Elk Point citizen Harry D. Callahan died June 28 in North Hollywood California from coronary thrombosis. Born February 28 1886 he married Abe McGuigan in Spearfish Tone 6 1910 and had eleven children. He lived in Elk Point and near Akron Iowa before moving to California nine years ago. He is survived by his wife nine children twenty eight grandchildren four sisters and five brothers. Funeral services were held July 2 at St Patrick’s Catholic Church North Hollywood.

Ladies Auxiliary Meeting at VF W Hall in July Summary

The Ladies Auxiliary met at the VF W hall with 21 members and 10 officers present. A round table discussion followed the business meeting and a musical contest featured 20 songs performed by Mrs Shoulberg. Marion Anderson won for all correct answers and Mrs Grace Small took the door prize. The birthday cake was cut by Mrs Kitty Weidenfeller marking her birthday. The birthday fund started for upcoming birthdays. Next meeting set for August 13 with hostesses Minnie Von Hagel Kitty Weidenfeller Elizabeth Hoffman Hazel Blake Pub Chairman.
