Robert Brundeen is completely recovered from a dislocated shoulder suffered earlier. Mr and Mrs Will Kiewel and children and Miss Lois Kiewel visited in the R H Kiewel and Martin Reierson homes at Beresford SD. Misses Mary Van Dyke Pearl Erickson and Marion Robbins of Sioux City spent Saturday evening in the August Erickson home. The school board met in regular session July 2. District No 5 will remain closed for lack of pupils, but No 6 may have the required enrollment.

Live Power Parade brings animatronic animals to Akron

Giraffes elephants lions and bears from a dozen countries headline Standard Oil Living Power Parade in Akron on Saturday July 14. A team of keepers manages the exhibit using paint brushes chamois and subtle animatronics as animals move eyes blink and trunks curl. The parade line will wind through the city's main streets as spectators recall circus parades of old.

Dorothea and Darrell Taylor spent the Fourth at Lake Okoboji with others noting Hawarden travelers and Neary’s Park crowds. A village charivari welcomed Mr and Mrs Hichacker on their spring wedding while locals wished them happiness. Hans Willer recovers from illness and M E Ladies’ Aid met in church parlors. CCC work for Akron crew, cattle losses from lightning, and a first wedding anniversary surprise for Melvin and his wife were reported.
