Ray A. Smith publisher announces yearly subscription at two dollars, six months for one dollar, and three months for fifty cents. Paper published every Thursday in Akron Iowa and entered as second class mail matter starting September 26, 1901.
Special correspondence recalls car mishap for James Pavlik and minor injuries. Families from Sioux City visit Milnerville for picnics and Knapp gathering. Priscilla Milner suffers chickenpox delaying plans, while Amos Brown and kin spend the weekend. Heat and grasshoppers damage crops. farmers race to finish cultivating before harvest. Burke, Hathaway, and Brown families feature among extended kin visiting Akron and Verndale.
The tenth Knapp reunion roster lists 89 attendees with Mrs. Myrtle Crow as president and Mrs. Matie Waddle as vice president. Attendees come from Westfield Chatsworth Akron Jefferson Hinton Sioux City Lake Andes Roslyn Vernal e Min n Pratt and Missoula Montana plus many others. Local notes report several travels hospital visits ball scores and funeral sympathy for the Hummel and McConville families. New member Mrs. Roger Crow attended among a wide array of relatives.
Jean Thornton returns home after weeks with relatives in Sioux City. Local families relocate, visit, and entertain. The As You Like It club awards prizes to Barbara Kruek and Linnie Van Vleck, with Lavon Hough as guest. The Guild meets at St Catharine's, and Mr and Mrs Lilly complete a motor trip through Salt Lake City and Yellowstone Park.
Butler family sympathy extended to the Masonholder family in Mapleton Iowa. No services in the Congregational church until further notice. Visitors at the Wm Seyler home Wednesday included Mrs. Seyler's sister Mrs. Marie Adams and her nephew Alden Adams.
Union Creek notes schedule including services at 11 with Sunday school at 10 Next Sunday. Ladies Aid set July 16 at Sellberg home with Hannah Sellberg and Mrs Mary Larson hosting Choir rehearsals for the picnic at Luther Hall. Relatives gathered at Joe McMurray home with J Nagle family Kenneth Nagle Ralph Dewey Cross James Leonard visiting Los Angeles. July Fourth celebrations noted with travel to Hawarden Beresford Rivers Sioux. Visitors Joy and family Elk Point Walford Forslund at Eddie Anderson home. Esther Hoagland Ruth Wedmark visiting Berkeley California. Eskil Johnson family Berwyn NL visiting. Veterans of Foreign Wars state convention at Beresford. Lawrence Ericson and children at Esther Hultgren home Teckla Anderson staying with John Fredel Vera Seeley helping at Clifford Groon home.

In Le Mars last Wednesday Judge O B Thomas of Rock Rapids presided over a district court session attended by many Akron residents. The probate hearing on the estate of Kate Smith involved joint ownership of funds among the deceased and several heirs and was taken under advisement. The court also issued orders in minor cases and probate matters.
