Miss Kay Manafield visited Ruth Ann Mackey in Chicago last Friday and will return Thursday with Mr and Mrs Frank Mackey who have been visiting relatives. Adr and children of Adaville hosted at Bessie Buryanek home. Wallace Lilly Gilbert James Mansfield and Sue attended a horse show at Wallin s Stables for retarded children. Mrs Dorothy Lilly, a surgical patient in Akron Hospital, is reported doing well. Earl Michael, formerly a Methodist Hospital patient, returned home. His daughter Mrs Margaret Mortenson and grandson David visited from Alta Iowa. Mrs Edith Spaulding is a patient in Akron Hospital. She had just returned from a two week visit with son Edmund in Eureka, IM. Saturday evening guests at Ed Nelson home were Mr and Mrs Edwin Klemme of LeMars. Sunday guests included Mr and Mrs Harry Warenhorst and family Merrill Mr and Mrs Jack Bullock and daughters Martha and Mary Cincinnati Ohio Mr and Mrs Martha Bullock Somerset Kentucky Mr and Mrs Ray Bullock and Dennis Sioux City Mr and Mrs Lesley Anderson Rick and Susan Akron. Mrs Mabel Lilly had dinner with James Mansfield. Ed Nelson hosted Thursday evening at Ray Bullock home in Sioux City. Eva Nelson of Westfield entered St Vincent Hospital Sioux City as a patient last Thursday.

Items from the Akron Register Tribune recall events 60 years ago. Chas L Chamberlin worked to restart the Akron telephone exchange after a three month suspension while new phones were installed. Fred W Sargent opened a Sioux City law office with Harry Ferguson. Rumors of an electric railway between Sioux City and LeMars circulated. Twenty six Akron residents rode a Milwaukee excursion to Lake Okoboji. A $20 purse saw five men vs nine boys in baseball, winners 25 to 10. Vocal class by Iva Kennedy showcased local talent. Frederick J Reemis, 60, farmer, died of a heart attack in town. Four th celebrations were quiet. Earl Edgington won a bicycle race, Freda won the ladies footrace, and R G Young topped the trap shoot. N Moore sold Akron Lumber Co stake to brother M A Moore and son Orlan Moore, who had worked at the yards since graduation. Elk Point drew most locals away for Fourth festivities. Akron beat Jefferson 18 to 1 in baseball, Jefferson quitting in the sixth. Webber supervised a large lumber shed for Farmers Grain Co. Rex Smith played for Huron in the South Dakota league. Roy Buckster married Blanche Milnes at the Congregational parsonage in LeMars. Rev O M Lamoly officiating. They began farming near Akron. Akron beat Merrill 3 to 0 in baseball. Joe Millette pitched for Akron.

Sioux Center reduces electric rates by six percent
The Sioux Center Iowa town council cut electric rates by 6 percent effective July 1, the second six percent cut in sixteen months. Ben Kaster near Moravia reported seven wolves killed, with hounds catching an old wolf and pups dug from a den. Lincoln Union Electric Co directors plan new headquarters and a manager’s residence near Alcester.

Sioux City voters renew IPS franchise for 18 years
The voters of Sioux City approved renewal of the Iowa Public Service Co. franchise for 18 more years by about 2 to 1 in a total of 15,426 votes. The electric franchise passed 12,162 to 4,041 and the gas franchise 11,808 to 4,020. The IPS will continue to provide Sioux City with first-class service.
