Union Creek Lutheran church will host Communion services Sunday evening at 8. The Junior Mission Band meets Friday afternoon July 12 at Luther Hall. Ladies' Aid plans a gathering at Miss Hannah Sellberg’s home on Wednesday July 10. Various local visits and dinners are noted, with many residents hosting and traveling between Beresford Sioux City Akron and Omaha for social events and family visits.
Special Correspondence reports clear skies on Wednesday night showing Venus rather than the Rapid City balloon. A hard rain touched the area Thursday with no local disasters. LeMars bail-out rumors proved unfounded. Mrs. Jessie Hathaway suffers rheumatic trouble hindering travel to Minnesota. Bonnie Milner returns home from relatives as school ends. Mrs. Lawrence in Montana notes heavy rain and a hail storm on June 14. Crops show good growth despite cool weather. small grain is robust and corn remains healthy. Farmers harvest alfalfa and prepare for a potentially good crop if the season holds.

Dave Cassel remains at the Sioux City stockyards and commutes weekends. families plan Fourth of July visits to LeMars, Sioux City, Elk Point, and nearby kin. Attendants include Mrs. Cassen, Priscila and Audrey Milner, Shirley Knapp, Mrs. Glenn Bernhardt, and the Milner family. Moves are planned for health reasons as N R Knapp and son Ward change houses. Other items mention Mrs Beekon’s readings, Cy Knapp selling fat cattle in Sioux City, Phyllis Smith's mumps, Jackie Knapp at a boys’ camp, Merlin Dreeszen at home, and a strong local strawberry crop.
Nebraska residents Mr and Mrs Donald Heyl and family were Sunday guests at Walter Heyl’s. Mr and Mrs Lloyd Johnson and Mrs Robert Johnson visited Martin Johnson’s home. The Ball family and Wilkens called on Henry Busch. Ed Lewison and son Howard plus Grandma Fiekbohm and Lowell Johnson visited Ed and Walter Piekbohm homes. The Sommervolds and Lewison families joined Art Lewison’s birthday celebration Friday. Walter and Donald Heyls visited Henry Heyl’s. Leo Burke and wife returned to Sioux City after two weeks with the Heyls. Items too late for last week’s issue mention Frank Johnson and Willard Mildred Johnson with a friend.
Residents report visitors at the Eddie Lewison residence Friday night. Lowell Johnson returned item(s) and left promptly, with no further incidents noted.
Families gathered for dinners and visits across Sioux City and nearby towns. Notable hosts included Walter Heyt, Carrol Hamilton, Henry Buseh, and August Ronsick with multiple relatives and friends attending. A play at Hamilton Hall drew a large crowd and office ads mention typewriter ribbons and paper for sale at the Register Tribune office.
