Carolyn Ross of Westfield and James Marienau of Hawarden wed in a double ring ceremony at Westfield Congregational Church. The bride wore white taffeta with a pearl embroidered bodice and orchid bouquet. the groom and his brother wore dark suits. A reception followed as the couple plan to reside in Spencer, Iowa.
Iowa lawmakers push a new law mandating all school districts join a high school district by July 1, 1966. 639 districts lacked a high school in 1965, with Woodbury County among 86 counties affected. Attachments by April 1, 1966 can be voluntary or by county board action, with possibilities for millage changes and appeals.

Clayton Small, local assistant chief of police, attended the Peace Officers short course on the University of Iowa campus in Iowa City. About 70 Iowa law enforcement officers studied new investigation methods and topics including Iowa laws weapons crowd control and riot response through daily classes lectures demonstrations and films. The course is sponsored by the University Bureau of Police Science with cooperation from the college of law and support from state agencies and police associations.
Iowa public schools show steady growth in guidance programs aided by NDEA Title V A funds. In 1957 58 only 86 districts had programs. by 1964 65, 299 districts did. About 60 percent of grades seven through twelve have access, with 488 counselors and 116 teacher-counselors earning averages of 7384 dollars annually.
