Regular meeting of town council held January 4 1955 with Mayor Grant Gassman and councilmen Ed Willer Avery Small Dale Sypherd Gary Hartmann present. Motion to appoint William Blankenburg as Fire Chief and Clayton Small as Assistant Fire Chief carried. Also approved rain gear for firemen and police and renewal of cigarette licenses for Philip Bernard and Olga Knight through June 30 1955. Multiple bills approved including fuel office supplies and repairs. Meeting adjourned.

Farmers in Union County are reminded of deadline dates for price support loans and purchase agreements on 1954 crops. January 1 applies to price support for new small grains and soybeans. May 31 applies to 1954 corn loan and purchase agreements. Loan quality tests and storage requirements apply. corn must meet acreage allotment for 1964. As of January 1, Union County had specific loan totals for oats, barley, wheat, and soybeans, with substantial activity in 1952 and 1959 corn. Loan rates: corn 1.61, oats .70, barley 1.17, wheat 2.80, soybeans 2.17.
