Wallace Lilly, 65, Westfield, Dies In Akron

Wallace Lilly of Westfield died Saturday January 18 at an Akron hospital after a long illness. Born July 18, 1903 in Westfield, he was a lifelong farmer. He married Petronella Goode March 19, 1932 at Elk Point. Funeral was Monday at Westfield Congregational Church with Rev. Edward Mays. Burial in Riverside Cemetery under Schroeder funeral home. Survivors: wife, four sons Stanley Omaha Ross Jefferson Douglas and Gilbert of Westfield. two daughters in law Mrs. Lloyd Crouch Hinton and Mrs. James Mansfield Elk Point, and three grandchildren.

Former Akron School Chief Bernard L Troup Dies

Bernard L. Troup former Akron School Superintendent died January 11 1969 He taught 34 years in Iowa public schools including roles in Earlham Melcher and Aurelia He married Dora Hempill in 1910 and left a farm life after 1947 He held a BA from Teachers College and an MA from the University of South Dakota He often said he would do it all again but a little better.

Producers Live Stock Gathering Plans Set for February Meeting

The Producers Commission Association will hold its annual meeting February 1 at 10 am in the Sioux City Municipal Auditorium. Cedric Hall leads plans with board members and manager David F. Mitchell. About nine hundred live stock producers from the four-state area will attend for a business meeting, director elections, and a live stock program with speakers Dr. Frank A. Court and Mylan E. Ross. A free steak dinner, entertainment, and door prizes are planned. The cooperative marketing agency lists Stock Yards Sioux City as its base and has nearly nine thousand members tied to the National LiveStock Producers network.
