Town Council Proceedings Special Meeting January 2 1962
The old council met at 12 00 noon with Mayor C R Mason presiding. Present were Verle Barwick Roy Nielsen Allen VanderHelm Clarence Hammel and Joseph Trotzig. A motion to approve bills as presented was carried. The meeting adjourned after confirming no further business before new council members were sworn in.

State Board of Public Instruction formed in Iowa
The Fifty fifth General Assembly established a Department of Public Instruction with an eight member, locally elected board and one governor appointed member. First meeting was January 2 1964 with named members and successors described. Also notes past members and appointments. Federal lunch funds for Iowa schools face March exhaustion with partial March payment and no payments in April through June. Iowa lunch allotment rises about 5 percent while pupil participation jumps 69 percent, reducing reimbursement per pupil. Milk program funds remain adequate to cover all claims.
