Le Mars council fills seat. Burkett tapped to replace resigning member

Kenneth Burkett 43 of 315 Sixth Ave SE was appointed by Le Mars city council to fill the vacancy from Floyd Hall's resignation. Burkett, manager of Bowers Clothing, is a retired Iowa National Guard lieutenant colonel and Vietnam veteran. Floyd Hall resigns trigger seats swap among Hawarden council members Bill Hill and Charles McManaman. John E. Sitter of Boyden owns a 70 year old flowering cactus with 500 blossoms this year after 48 years of care by him and his wife. Orange City Jaycee Fish Sale raises record funds for community projects including a playground, Sioux Center EMS upgrades with a new ambulance, and more. Sioux Center to receive new four-place ambulance by April 1. Faith Orthodox Presbyterian Church to begin worship services February 11 at 9 am in Sioux Center library basement. An explosion in Le Mars High School gym boiler room injures student Carl Prieksat, 17, who is treated at Floyd Valley Hospital. Inwood ordinances require snow cleared within 12 hours. city will clear and bill owners if needed. First Federal Savings and Loan of Beresford reports 1972 growth, with December 31 deposits at 6,511,309 dollars, up 22 percent.
