Names include Kilstrom, Weaver, Lundquist, Bock, Rosacker, Mansfield, Harrington, Buryanek, Schoenfelder, Maynard, Fletcher, Moffatt, and Lilly among many in Akron Sibley Laurens and Des Plaines connections. A birth announced for Kenneth Fletcher’s daughter from Chicago, and Congregational Ladies Aid set February 20 meeting with specified hostesses and program planning.
Westfield High School announces the Sweetheart Ball for Saturday evening February 15. Coronation ceremonies start at 7 with a dance to follow until midnight. Music will be performed by Evolution of Sound and admission is $1.50 per couple or $1.00 for a single attendee. Public invited.
Martes Henry Jans was born April 1 1895 in Akron Iowa to Martes and Emma Jans. He died February 4 1969 at Baptist Hospital in Winner South Dakota at age 73. He lived in Akron Carter and Winner area, married Emma Lou Dykeman in 1920, with two children Wayne and Beverly, and left seven grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, son, daughter and siblings.
Special correspondent reports a week of social visits across Chatsworth Morningside Akron Ireton and Sioux City including Hendricks Collmann Packard Moehlman and Hartman households plus a shower for Miss Sandra Small and notes on spring clothing costs and a nursing home bulletin board display with Lincoln and Washington tributes.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at First Baptist Church for Mrs. Sarah Talbott born August 27 1877 in Akron lifelong resident. She married Merrill Talbott on July 7 1903. Survived by three daughters eleven grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren. Burial at Riverside Cemetery.
News of Servicemen notes Sergeant Gerald D Frericks as Assistant Ramp Coordinator with Detachment 5, 6th Aerial Port Squadron at Ubon Royal Thai Air Force Base Thailand from May 17 1967 to May 9 1968. His meritorious services aided identification and solution of air freight transport problems, contributing to mission success in Southeast Asia and reflecting credit on himself and the United States Air Force.
