St Catherine's Guild set for Feb 13 at Mrs Win Gant Jr home with Mrs Gant and Mrs Paul Lamoreaux hostesses. Ira Maynard of Sioux City weekended with Mr and Mrs N R Beaubien. Captain and Mrs Walter Hasimel and children Bruce and Myrna returned to Overland Missouri after visits. Joe Roses and Lorna Rose of Akron join relatives for dinners and Teddy Millar's fourth birthday. Tuesday Club Quest Night was Feb 4 at Congregational church social rooms. Delbert Maynard moves into his mother in law Ivy Knapp’s house. Lowell Morehead moves into John Braker house. Westfield residents in Sioux City include Mrs Josie Hummel and Albert Hummel in hospital. A new 48 passenger International School bus arrives, brought by an IHC man from Akron. Duane Kindig family and Margie Welsh visit the Leos and Guys in Sioux City. Cliff Johnson of Oakland Neb overnight with Percy Harrington. Kay Mansfield hosts a class tobogganing party. Livestock and Crop Improvement Meeting Held in Alcester

Forty men attended the annual joint meeting of the Union County Livestock Improvement Association and Crop Improvement Association in Alcester on January 30. The program featured a Soil Conservation District report by Glenn Hicks, a Watershed Approach talk by Gary Kerr, and soil management demonstrations by J. T. Paulson. Directors elected covered livestock and crop groups for 1957, with officers named for various roles. The Preston Club adopted Mabel Allen, buttons and cards planned, and a future meeting set for February 11 in Immanuel Lutheran church basement with guest speakers from Northwest association for retarded children and county school chairman.
