Arthur DeRaad attended Clarence Andrews 50th anniversary at Beresford last Sunday. Hank Liston visited the Liston family last Wednesday for luncheon. G Moller’s nephew Scott Lake from Sioux City spent last Thursday night in Omaha with Ken Johnson then went to Kansas City to fetch Jim Moller. Jack Lake visited G Moller Sunday afternoon then stayed with Henry Collmann for supper. Don Hendricks and Chicago Tl visited Hendricks family. their children returned home with parents from Las Vegas trip. Chatsworth welcomes new families moving here recently.

Mrs. Ray Ogden 89, died January 23, 1973 at Akron Hospital after months of illness. Born October 11, 1883 in Momence Illinois, she lived with husband Ray B. State auditor Lloyd R. Smith reports the 1971 year end audit for Plymouth county shows 2,163 cases handled and 40,211.07 dollars in fines. Clerk of court, six justices of the peace, and six mayors accounted for the totals with detailed case and fine figures. The county treasurer’s fines fund balance and allocations to school districts are provided, along with a 1970 comparison showing 2,137 cases and 40,447.85 in fines.

Akron Library Joins Siouxland Co op System
The Akron Public Library has joined the Siouxland Co operative Library System linking Northwest Iowa libraries. Patrons can borrow books from any member library at no extra cost and request materials via toll free calls to Sioux City. Books can be borrowed for three weeks and 50 to 75 new titles arrive quarterly. Older books are being sold for nickels or dimes to make space.

Walter Christensen 1900 72 Dies in Vermillion Area
Walter Christensen age 72 of Elk Point died January 24 in a Vermillion hospital. He was born October 11, 1900 in Union County South Carolina and was a lifelong farmer in the Akron and Elk Point area. Funeral services were January 26 in Akron with burial at Riverside Cemetery. Survivors include a sister Mrs. Josephine Hey of Hawarden and a brother Julius of Elk Point.

Alfred Bob Witt died January 25 at Hawarden hospital. Funeral rites were held January 29 at Trinity Lutheran Hawarden with Rev. C F Pittack officiating. Burial in Grace Hill cemetery. Born October 23, 1907 near Hawarden, he married Minnie Borchers February 20, 1929. He farmed locally, moved to Hawarden in 1963, later ran Witt Service Station. Survived by wife Minnie, Duane of Hawarden, Marlene Buryanek of Hawarden, a sister Mrs. Peter Moeller of Hawarden, and many relatives in Akron area.

Mr and Mrs Bob Clarey of Akron Iowa have passed the General Education Development test and will receive diplomas from the State Department of Education. Lois Clarey attends Akron adult education Monday nights at the high school. Hyla Olson teaches, classes meet 7 to 10 p m in the home economics room, and enrollment is open anytime for a spring diploma.

USPS Issues Golden Eagle and Golden Age Passports Officials announce Wallet size permits for park access
Akron Postmaster Arden Johnson notes first and second class post offices will issue Golden Eagle and Golden Age passports. Golden Eagle costs 10 dollars, enables general admission for the bearer and a companion in a private vehicle. Golden Age is free for those 62 and older and provides 50 percent off certain recreation fees. Passports are non transferable and issued in cooperation with the Interior Department.
