Committee Cuts Bond Proposal For Akron School District
A twelve member School Building Citizens committee met with the School Board on December 22 to discuss a revised elementary school plan. The bond would total 264,700 dollars, down from 310,000, with 8 classrooms plus Kindergarten and special ed, 2 multi purpose rooms, and a kitchen. Public display of floor plans is planned with a meeting set for January 5 at Akron School Auditorium to explain details and answer questions.

Richland Man Called By Death in South Dakota
Maurice Erickson 83 lifelong Richland resident died Saturday at a Yankton hospital after a long illness. He was born April 27 1878 near Elk Point and married Blanche Tucker March 13 1921. Survivors include his widow a son a stepson two stepdaughters two brothers eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Funeral services set for Thursday 2:00 pm at Anderson Funeral Home Elk Point with burial in Richland Cemetery.

School Busses Involved In Recent Mishaps
A string of bus incidents last week included a fatal crash near Hinton where Alfred Albers died after his empty bus stalled near a railroad crossing. William Porter’s Westfield Community bus carried thirty children and tipped on an icy bend, with no injuries. A foggy Highway 76 collision north of Sioux Center injuring a 17 year old from Ireton and a nose injury to another pupil, while 40 others escaped harm.

William Burnight of Chatsworth aged 75 years 7 months 18 days died Monday December 18 at Hawarden hospital after a stroke.
