Westfield News reports Mr and Mrs Raymond Welch visiting family across several states from Omaha to Joliet to Phoenix and back, with multiple relatives hosting meals and gatherings. Local outings include church programs, a hospital discharge, a funeral, toboggan party, and a volunteer ball.
Mrs Frank Welch learned last week of the death of her cousin David Leonard eighteen. His mother Loraine Haynes once stayed with the Welchs. The California youth was killed by electrocution at Silver Dollar Ranch while moving an irrigation pipe when a rabbit darted in. A pipe end touched overhead wires. Lucille wishes a merry Christmas.
Westfield students and staff share holiday greetings as the first semester nears its end. Juniors and seniors took the Armed Services Aptitude Test to aid career planning. Christmas decorations, two programs, and a successful girls basketball fundraiser are described along with Dea Martins return. School resumes January 3 under Superintendent Wayne Seipp.
The family of Frank Jacobs and Milo W Jacobs express gratitude for cards memorials floral gifts pantry supplies and acts of sympathy. They thank the ladies who served lunch after the prayer service and dinner after the funeral.

Franz Peter Jacobs died Monday December 13 at Akron Hospital after months of illness. He was 79. He was born January 19, 1892 in Union County South Dakota. He married Myrtie Halvorsen on September 16, 1912 and lived near Pleasant Hill before moving to Akron in 1926. He operated a truck, served as Akron city clerk 1942 to 1944 and served on Akron town council two terms. He farmed northwest of Akron until retirement in 1960 and belonged to Immanuel Lutheran Church. Survived by his wife, two sons Lyle and Milo, four grandchildren, two great grandchildren, three brothers and two sisters. Funeral services were held December 16 in Akron with Pastor Roy officiating. Interment in Riverside Cemetery.
