The Akron Register-Tribune is published weekly on Thursdays in Akron Plymouth County Iowa. It is entered at the local post office as second class mail matter with a September 26 1901 date.

The Westfield Tuesday Club met at Opal Hummel home on November 24 with eleven members present. Final gifts for the Cherokee Mental Health Institute will be collected. Christmas gifts will be exchanged. The lesson covered parts of the Oriental World, Asia and Indian Realm. Next meeting December 10 at Congregational church. Westfield school board hired Arnold Hummel as maintenance man and bus driver. Ladies Aid meets December 8 at Congregational church. Thanksgiving guests included the Piss and Boetger families and John Bliss family. Westfield A team beat Meckling 60 to 46. B team 39 to 25. Games upcoming against Meckling, Cushing and Jefferson over early December.
Lester D. Menke of Calumet addressed the Westfield Board of Public Instruction on school problems. He urged broader state aid and reorganized laws, with pupil choice of schools and tuition payments. Proposals include raising state aid to 40 percent, more funds for special and vocational education, and new tax plans to cover costs. The board seeks local evaluation and asks who decides priorities between improvement and enrollment limits.
