Union County Livestock Feeders Hold Annual Meeting

One hundred twelve members and guests of the Union County Livestock Feeders Association met Tuesday evening, November 28, at the Elk Point Country Club. John Madden reported on current feedlot pollution and which entities must apply for a permit to discharge waste. Robert Wold urged a beef promotion checkoff funded national campaign, noting potential $60 million weekly demand and $38,338 weekly impact for Union County. Directors elected for three-year terms were Jerry Bergen, Max Vreugdenhil, and Darmon Staum.

Funeral services for John D. Frerichs age 92 were held at St John Lutheran Church with Reverend James Sandvik officiating. He died November 25 and was born September 26, 1879 in Preston Township near Akron. He farmed in Plymouth County and served 24 years as Portland Township school board president. Survivors include two daughters nine sons a brother 18 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
