Mrs Russell Huff and children and Berniece Eidem visited Mrs Will Kerr Akron. Herbert Swanson and Eugene Hilton called at Wilson Heasley home near Vermillion last Saturday. Clarence Andrews family spent days with friends at Kingsley Town. Mrs Delphene Trude visiting Wilson Heasley home and will attend Vermillion fair. Frank Kerr Margaret Kerr and Selma Kerr attended Dr E I Conner home Alcester. Mrs Russell Huff and children visited Lewis Satter Friday. Mrs Richard Ball and son Junior visited Mrs Albin Anderson Monday. Mrs Ludwig Sommervold fell and hurt her leg last Tuesday. Her children staying with Aunt Mrs Elmer Klemme. Watermelon Day caused early publication and pig market updates

The Register-Tribune will publish a day earlier next week for Watermelon Day. Government pig purchase prices at Chicago basing point are listed by weight class, with lower prices in all other basing markets. Sioux City market receipts set records and a government shipping permit system was begun to control pig shipments, requiring written requests and dealer coordination.

Government Sets Hog Price Under Farm Admin Program

The Agricultural Adjustment Administration began purchasing and slaughtering 5,000,000 pigs and sows to reduce swine surplus and raise prices for farmers. About 4,000,000 hogs up to 100 pounds and 1,000,000 sows will be slaughtered. Purchases started at six Midwest centers Sioux City Sioux Falls Chicago Kansas City St Paul Omaha and St Joseph Missouri with more centers to join later. Farmers send hogs to approved points following standard procedures.
