Missionary program enlivens Union Creek church Sunday

Union Creek News reports the Women's Missionary Society of Nathaniel Lutheran Alcester will present a missionary program at Union Creek church Sunday evening August 27 with refreshments afterward. The Ladies Aid will meet at Luther Hall Thursday August 24 hosted by Mrs Lester Seeley and Mrs Gordy Green. Mrs. Lewis Sutter Visits Digent Patients in County

Mrs. Lewis Sutter and her children spent Monday afternoon calling on Mrs. Ed Johnson. The report notes a very enjoyable time during the visit and mentions digent patients from the county being treated by someone referenced as Ed Johnson.

Poor quota state hospital distribution announced

The state hospital quota for indigent patients to be admitted from each county was set at 86 for Plymouth County, nearly triple the recent county totals. Faced with reduced appropriations, hospital authorities cut about 20 percent of capacity and adopted population based apportionment to distribute services fairly until July 1, 1934. States that patients from state institutions are not charged to their counties.

PHONE MAN RESCUED DRIVER IN HIGHWAY COLLISION

A man in Yankton rushed to aid after a highway collision. He climbed a telephone pole, tapped into lines, called for help, and then returned to assist the injured until doctors arrived, helping save the driver’s life.
