Tractor safety urged as harvest nears in Iowa
The Iowa Farm Loss Prevention Institute warns of about 245 tractor accidents on Iowa highways annually and 26 fatal tragedies in 1961. They urge rear-view mirrors and checkered flags to give motorists time to adjust to slower tractors and help operators see trailing equipment. Mirrors priced around 10 inches with three arms prevent vibration and improve field visibility.
