School Budget and Bids Set for 1965 66 Year

The board agreed on a proposed 1965 66 budget and no school on Labor Day. Gas and fuel oil bids were opened with Westfield Oil Co. offering gas 13.6 and fuel oil 10.69 while Standard Oil Co. offered gas 13.14 and fuel oil 10.67. A motion approved accepting Westfield fuel oil at 10.69 and Standard Gas at 13.14. A new adding machine was bought for the Secretary. Harley Arnett was hired as Maintenance Bus Man for the year. Judges and Clerks were selected for the September 13 election from 12 7 PM.

Tractor accident season warning from Town Loss Prevention Institute

The Town Loss Prevention Institute urges farmers to recognize harvest season dangers as tractor accidents rise in October and November. Iowa State University extension data show 231 Iowa tractor accidents in 1963 and 271 in 1964, with overturning causing most deaths. operators should stay within safe tractor capabilities and follow safety precautions.

St Catherine's parish plans its annual picnic Sunday August 22 at 6 30 p m on the church lawns for all members. Sixty six people registered for the Plymouth County Old Settlers and Historical Society meeting held in connection with the celebration here Saturday. Mr and Mrs George Knapp and family of Arlington Virginia visit his parents. St Joseph school begins Monday August 30 at 9 a m. Ivyl Knapp and Roy Bliss families visit Mr and Mrs Robert Bliss and boys in Muleshoe Texas. Welch reunion picnic is set for Sunday September 4 at the Legion Hall in Akron Ta. Bob Welch spent four days with his parents in Kansas City Mo. Rae Marie Jordan visits grandparents Ray Welch and wife.
