Craig Fair Held August 16 at Craig Brotherhood Fair
The Craig Brotherhood Fair drew over 2,500 attendees from five states. The event featured the Baby Beef Show judged by John Longstreet with top calves led by Marvin Janssen and Evelyn Popken, plus showmanship and livestock judging contests won by Marvin Janssen and Betty Jane Pecks. A grain-threshing group assisted Erven Smid’s grain, with many locals helping.

Many fine attractions headline Iowa State Fair schedule
The Iowa State Fair announces a record lineup August 27 to September 5 headlined by Rodeo with Gere Autry on September 25, Thrill day with stunts September 1, auto races August 28 29 and September 2 6, jalopy state championship August 27, and a national horse show August 21. Also on the schedule are horse races August 30 31, a musical revue August 27 to September 1, nightly fireworks, an open-air circus, and extensive livestock and 4-H shows, plus a statewide agricultural exposition and farm machinery show. Mr and Mrs Herman Deno of Westfield Indiana celebrate golden anniversary with an open house August 21 at Riverside Methodist church Sioux City beginning 6:30 p.m.
