Fertilizer Tests Boost Corn Yields In Local Plot

Town Star College conducted tests in O'Brien and Sioux counties showing fertilized corn yields up to 89 bushels per acre and net profits up to 24 dollars per acre. Fall applications, plowed under, proved more effective than spring, with 0-20-0 returning seven and a half dollars per dollar spent on fertilizer on the Elgersma farm. Complete results are at Farm Belt Feed & Supply Co. Akron. equivalent results can be achieved with 15-15-0.

South Dakota to Sell Driver Permits October First

Secretary Gerlandine Ostroot announces permits go on sale after October 1 under a new law requiring all drivers of legal age to carry a permit. About 400,000 permits will be issued, valid for two years, with no driving test required. Permits cost 50 cents and are obtained through county treasurers. forms will be supplied by the secretary of state. The permit will carry the holder’s description, residence, issue and expiration dates, issuing county, and a signed declaration that no license exists.
