Westfield Weste-Ups Ashe Ladies Aid to meet Thursday August 9 at the home of Mrs Christensen with Mrs Christen as hostess. Miss Vivian Oaks spent time in the home of her brother and sister Mr and Mrs B C Ath Hawarden. Vigil Christensen of Onawa Ia.

Luther League meets Tuesday at Luther Hall with program chairs Mr. Rudolph Anderson, Mrs. Albin Carlson. Local visits and visits to Sioux City noted. Ruth Mary Olson returns from Sioux City hospital. several residents attend events and travel.
Special correspondent reports on heat fatigue among Frank Welch and Lester Dewey, relatives visiting from Clarinda and California, stock sale attendance, threshing anxiety over yields, funeral attendance for H. B. Engel in Vermillion, Mrs. Art Rozell sprain, 4-H activities led by Harvey Taylor and Thelma Huddle, and a pleasant Westfield township gathering at the Lowell Taylor home with a good turnout.
Mr and Mrs Leonard Miller and daughter Darlene were Sunday dinner guests at the Harry Buehre home. Mr and Mrs John Kallsen spent Monday evening at the Ben Tock home. Abe Miller was reminded of his birthday Sunday evening. At midnight a lunch was served. Mrs Henry Buehre visited Roy Sampson home near Craig. Evelyn Jeffers returned home after weeks in LeMars. Thelma Douglas from Webster City came to visit Lambert Jeffers family. Mrs Leonard Miller and daughter and Mrs Clare Morehead and sons visited Fred Lucken home Tuesday afternoon. Mrs Gerhard Wilken hosted the Preston township Ladies at her home Wednesday afternoon.
Pleasant Hill Correspondent reports visitors and travels across the region. Austin Texas residents Mr and Mrs Leo W Gardner visited relatives en route to Fergus Falls Minnesota. Sioux City guests include Mr and Mrs Bailey Horner and baby and Mrs Loretta Bubs with Mrs Jean Handy. Extended visits feature Leonardville Kansas resident Victor Andrews with brother Clarence and others at Elk Point. Local gatherings include Mr and Mrs Harvey Welch and Mr and Mrs Russell Huff at various homes with cooks for threshers and visits to Nielson and Hanson households.
Funeral services for Clayton Kiewel son of Mr and Mrs Rhine hart Kiewel of Beresford were held Wednesday afternoon at the Pleasant Hill L B church. Deepest sympathy is extended to the family and other relatives in their bereavement.
Miss Lauretta Heyl visits Garland kin and a surprise birthday party for Elvera Marple marks a festive run. Neighbors share calls, dinners, fishing, and shop trips with families including the Heyls Skinners and Hamiltons. The community mourns Clayton Kiewel for drowning in Lake Michigan with services held at Pleasant Hill church.
Fred Husman began threshing in the area last Thursday with a big rig at Everett Orr’s and a small rig at Alvin Mulder’s. Mrs. Lowell Burkett of LeMars and her children visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Milton Gabel, last week. William Philips and children of near Ruble were dinner guests in the Nelson Brown home. The Missionary Society and Otterbein Guild meet at Mrs. Frank Gabel’s Wednesday afternoon. Miss Grace Tindall leads Sunday evening church services with the theme This is My Father’s World. Miss Loraine Thoms of Merrill stayed with her grandmother, Mrs. Frisch. Adaville Grand Meadow Moville Missionary Societies plan a joint picnic August 8 at Kingsley with noon picnic dinner and a missionary program by the three districts. Eva Gabel suffered a painful hand injury from barb wire last week.
Mrs. John Ross, early Plymouth County settler, died July 20 at her home in Wessington D. D. at age 92. Born in Nova Scotia, she came with her husband to LeMars in 1881 and settled on a farm near Crathorne. Her husband died fourteen years ago. She
