Ruling on price support income clarifies reporting rules

The IRS holds that a farmer who receives a certificate of interest under the price support program and cashes it in the following year to obtain loan proceeds must include the loan in gross income in the year the loan is consummated, not when the certificate was received. The Plymouth County ASC chair cites confusion among producers who used the certificate in the loan process rather than when issued.

The Akron Community School District reports period ending March 31 1960 with a balance of 413 517.08 in general funds and separate balances for School House Fund and Special Levy Fund. Mrs A Schoenrock Called By Death

Mrs A Schoenrock died at Hawarden after a long illness. She had been bedfast since February 1 and died on April 14 in the local hospital. Survived by three sons Emil, Edwin, and Ervin of Hawarden, two brothers Charles Utech of Sioux City and Herman Utech of Hawarden, two sisters Rose Schultz and Anna Frerichs of Sioux City, eight grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. her husband, daughter Edith Nitzschke, parents, and two brothers preceded her in death.

Corn Under Price Support Up Slightly

Corn producers, per Plymouth county ASC, show February support at 82 million bushels, up slightly from 1958 February but far below January. Through February, 378 million bushels of 1959 crop under loans and agreements. Iowa leads with 113 million. Price support for 1959 crop corn continues through May 31 at county offices.
