Frisk's air force unit earns outstanding award

First Lt. Daryl E. Frisk of Akron rural area is a missile combat crew commander in the 508th Strategic Missile Squadron at Whiteman AFB Missouri. The unit received the U.S. Air Force Outstanding Unit Award for meritorious service from June 1973 to July 1974.

Jo Ann Tindall Initiated Into Gamma Sigma Delta Honors

Akron student Jo Ann Tindall was initiated into the Iowa Beta chapter of Gamma Sigma Delta at a Great Hall Memorial Union ceremony on Tuesday April 15. The event honored 114 students four alumni and eight faculty with William F Huey Jr of the University of Minnesota as featured speaker.

Debrah Burdette and David Port, both of Akron, united in marriage at Wesley United Methodist Church Akron on Feb. 14, 1975. ISU Vocal Groups to Perform Free Concert April 27

Valerie Philips and two Iowa State vocal groups the Iowa State Singers and Cardinal Keynotes will present a concert Sunday April 27 at 8 p.m. in the Great Hall Memorial Union Akron student Valerie Philips participates. The program splits into American 20th century music and music hall stage pieces from 1860 to 1920. Admission is free.

Steve Groon Wins ROTC Scholarship

Akron’s Steven Groon is named among 21 Iowa high school seniors awarded four year ROTC college scholarships. The award covers tuition textbooks and lab fees plus a $100 monthly subsistence allowance. Scholarships begin in fall 1975 after nationwide competition for over 1,000 spots. Selection emphasizes leadership, academics, activities, and SAT or ACT scores with board interviews.
