Little Mary Sunshine Opens at LeMars Friday

Herbert L Boyer 26 of Hawarden died in a one car crash on Highway 12 near Chatsworth Monday night He was employed at a Sioux City packing plant and died at Hawarden hospital The service was held Friday at 130 pm in the American Lutheran church Rev Ray Boyens officiating He leaves a widow Linda and a son Shane with parents eight brothers and three sisters and several grandparents and extended relatives.

Book and Thimble Club and 4-H Horse Project Meeting Notes

The Book and Thimble Club met April 8 at Lois Nelson’s home with fourteen members. They discussed Civic Improvement ideas and plant a flower bed by the Soldier’s Monument with permission from city authorities. An Art Show and Tea is set for April 27 2 to 4 and April 28 1 30 to 4 30. The next meeting is April 22 at Caroline Kerr’s home with safety officer Mr Bromstetter as guest. A drivers quiz will replace roll call. A 4-H Horse Project meeting is planned for April 19 at Ben Miller’s Arena at 1 15 pm featuring horse demonstrations and a vet talk. Parents and non enrolled members may attend.

Three Iowa hunting seasons opening dates announced

The State Conservation Commission released opening dates for 1969-70 seasons. Pheasant and Hungarian partridge start November 8, quail begins October 25, and squirrel and rabbit seasons open September 15. Waterfowl, deer and other species details will follow after inventories.

Knit fabrics expand men’s wear to all fashion levels

Theda Nelle Scott notes designers foresee knits in nearly all men’s garments from underwear to suits. Bonded, double knits, tricot, and Raschel fabrics will shape suits, sport coats, rainwear, and outwear with comfort and wrinkle resistance. Also included are area garden and lawn clinics on April 23 and 25 in Woodbury and Cherokee, with speakers A. E. Cott and Ben Vance discussing new vegetable, flower, and lawn varieties for 1969, and lawn care tips.

The sixth graders studied Latin American countries and prepared salt and flour maps. Fifth graders cover the South Central States, with reports and math and science lessons. Fourth graders learn geometry and health units as a new student joins 4A.
