Plymouth County forms its first livestock producers group in years ahead of the April 24 Spring Livestock Outlook at the KC Hall LeMars Iowa. ISU economist Lee Kolmer to comment on demand shifts and export import balance as producers and bankers gather to assess supply demand and tax ruling effects. Tickets are $3 at county banks. Social Security notes on timely checks mailed regionally

John R. Goldman, district manager, says about 244 million dollars in Social Security checks are mailed monthly to over 37,500 people in the Sioux City district. Some checks arrive late or are returned if beneficiaries fail to report address changes or other events such as marriage, divorce, death, or adoption.

Four Hog Cholera Outbreaks Reported in South Dakota

Dr. G S Harshfield heads a state college veterinary effort reporting four new hog cholera outbreaks in South Dakota within six months. Counties affected include Charles Mix Hyow n Brookings and Lincoln with herds ranging from 60 to 250 pigs. Vaccination and eradication drives are underway as part of a broader state effort to eliminate the disease.

Social Security Report Events Notice at Hawarden City Hall

A field representative Louise B. Taylor will be at Hawarden City Hall on Wednesday April 17, 1963 from 10 a.m. to noon to discuss reporting requirements for social security benefits. Residents are urged to contact the Sioux City office at 340 Commerce Building for guidance and information.

Artie A Pierson to lead livestock outlook dinner in LeMars

Artie A Pierson County Extension Director will host a dinner meeting at the KC Hall in LeMars on Wednesday evening April 24 with Lee Kolmer Town State University Economist and Marketing specialist as speaker. He will share his views on the livestock outlook for 1963. Tickets cost 3.00 and are available at county banks. Limited seating, organizers warn.

Plymouth County Signs Up 1508 Farms for 1963 Feed Grain Program

As of March 28 Plymouth County farmers totaling 1,508 have joined the 1963 feed grain program. Chairman Raymond J. Becker reports 39,716 acres diverted from corn, sorghum, and barley from base acreages of 162,048. Estimated payments total 668,549 dollars, not including fall price-support payments. National totals show 642,885 farms signed to divert 18,126,000 acres with 235,813,300 dollars in expected payments.
