Continued Rains Raise Big Sioux River At Merrill Event

Akron Iowa Announces Dog License Rules For 1969

Notice to the public states all dog owners must annually license dogs age three months or older by March first. Fees are one dollar for male or neutered dogs and three dollars for females. Rabies vaccination is required with veterinarian certification submitted to the town clerk. Running at large is prohibited for unlicensed dogs and during March through September. Mayor and Town Council of Akron urge compliance.

Akron high school livestock team shines at Sioux City meet

The Akron High School livestock judging team placed 25th in the 20th annual Sioux City F. A. Invitational at the Sioux City Stockyards. Four team members Keith Kiemme Bruce Hemmingsen Roger Oetken Richard Wales and Gaylen Tapper plus advisor Mr. Ziniel competed. Richard Wales earned 5th overall with a $200 scholarship from Morningside College. Over 360 students from 89 teams took part.
