Funeral of a Nation's Chief Follows McKinley Death
Canton marked the end of President William McKinley with a funeral attended by 75 000 to 100 000 people from across the United States and abroad. Roosevelt and cabinet led the procession, miles of military and civic honor guards, and wreaths from Italy Haiti Uruguay and many states. The body lay in state, was moved to West Lawn cemetery, and interment awaited beside McKinley's children.

The Procession After McKinley Funeral in Canton
The procession for the late President and funeral party in Canton attracted thousands. The parade stretched from the McKinley residence on North Market to the cemetery.
