Advocates for restoring the army canteen gain support from War Department released reports on Philippine officers. The findings claim the current Prohibition feature harms the army and cite high preenlistment alcohol use among troops. H Adamx pleaded guilty in Police court for distributing medicine samples in the city. The court read the law, and the minimum penalty is a $25 fine plus costs. The mayor imposed this sentence. City commissioners opened bids at noon Saturday for the West Market Street paving project and for the construction of Industrial No 9 trunk sewer. Bids were referred to the appropriate committees, the Street and Sewer committee, for consideration.
W. R. Oyler Automatic Gan Valve Co will be incorporated in Columbia by Akron men backed with Akron capital. The firm plans an automatic safety gas valve with a patent already granted and will seek a factory and building soon. Office at 282 West Market Street displays samples. Naming of incorporators awaits charter approval from Columbus.
In the secretary’s report of the New Century club’s best Wednesday meeting an error stated Mrs. A L Spanton read a paper prepared by Mrs G R Olin on King Lear. The paper was in fact prepared by Mrs Spanton who recently joined the club after a program change assigned the task to Mrs Olin.
Jam Rahway New Jersey November 18. It was discovered yesterday that Millstones the summer home of Miss Liqbel Irving the actress had been entered by burglars and ransacked. Several curios were stolen and a quantity of jam and sweetmeats was sampled and taken away. Alas Irving's summer home has been closed since the latter part of the summer.
