Tragic Mining Accident Claims Three at La Belle Tron
In Steubenville O November 11 a deadly mining accident at the La Belle Tron coal mine killed three men James Robertson Edward Simpson and Wim Vandine. The mine had just reopened after a long flood. The bucket lowered to clean the entrance triggered a gas or ore explosion. Engineer Leonard hoisted the cage but Robertson and Howard Simpson perished. Vandine cried from the bottom before contact was lost and rescuers work to recover his body.
