Hundred Men Search for Lost Superintendent in Montana

In Belton Montana on November 8 Superintendent F Bean of the Great Northern Railroad vanished while hunting with five friends. President James J Hill ordered 100 men to scour the area for the missing official, whose private car was sidetracked near Belton. A Telegram from Knilepell noted a prior train bandit incident near Drummond last week, suggesting danger to the search.

Akron Uniform Rank Regiments Expanded In Ohio

The Uniform Rank of the Knights of Pythias expands in northeastern Ohio with Gen. T. W. Minshull redistricting and forming two new regiments. Akron gains a battalion HQ as the Twelfth regiment to be based there on November 15 under Leut. Col. HM. Egbert with Major A. D. Siegfrred as first battalion commander. New companies form in Warren Ravenna Akron Summit City Barberton Wadsworth and a Wade Worth pumping unit and a Medi menitions site near Cuyahoga Falls are planned for muster.

Official count shows vote adjustments after Tuesday tally

The Board of Elections completed the official count with minor changes to precinct tallies. No overall result change occurred though margins shifted for several candidates. Highlights include Lim gaining 80 on John Sowers by 25 votes and Clint Kline adding 50 to his plurality on the second count.

Fatal collision on Cincinnati Marietta Dayton line near Indianapolis

An early morning wreck three miles east of Indianapolis on the Cincinnati Marietta Dayton railroad killed several men. Victims include John Ventch, Bud Fox of Montesuma Indiana, Kelley King, Jon Dame Monroe, Charles Buentling engineer, Arnold McKinney, Robert Stevens brakeman, and Ralph Ellis listed as unknown residence. The crash is believed caused by a confusion of orders.

Pig skin graft saves ten year old in Richmond

In Richmond a remarkable grafting procedure was attempted to save a ten year old girl who fell into a gate line. A large piece of pig skin was grafted on her back to cover a ten to fourteen inch square area and leave her life.

Dr Willis Sperry Dies In Tallmadge At 79

Dr Willis Sperry longtime Tallmadge physician dies at home after long heart disease battle age 79. Born near Tallmadge he studied medicine in Cleveland and served the community for over 40 years. Wife Emily predeceased him. two sons and several daughters survive. Funeral Monday at 1 40 pm at the Tallmadge residence with burial in Tallmadge Cemetery.

Treaty Signed For Newfoundland Trade With United States

Washington Nov 8 Sir Michael Herbert and Secretary of State Hay signed no reciprocity treaty covering trade between Newfoundland and the United States. The treaty provides for entry of Newfoundland fish into U S ports and abrogates the license formerly required of American vessels buying bullion in Newfoundland ports.

YMCA A.. Welcome Reception for New Akron Secretary

The YMCA welcomed Mr. R. G. Hooper as general secretary with a Friday reception at Rose Hall. A large attendance of Young Men, an endorsing Board of Directors led by W. A. Upham, and brief speeches from Judge B. W. Stuart, J. W. Walton of Cleveland, and W. L. Wilbur highlighted the optimistic view of Akron YMCA progress. Miller Denies Mayor Candidacy in Barbertown Speculation

Special correspondence from Barberton notes active chatter about mayoral candidates while no municipal election is expected until next spring. Local merchant L Miller, who lost the primary last spring to Mayor Buel, says he has no definite plan to run and that the time is too far off for a firm statement.

Frosty Wind Grips Northwest As Cold Wave Spreads

The Weather Bureau issued a bulletin detailing a Northwest cold wave with temperatures from 10 to 20 degrees below zero in the British Northwest territory. Tonight and Sunday the chill will move south into the central and northern plains and upper Mississippi Valley with zero or below readings in central and eastern Montana North Dakota and northern Minnesota. Heavy snowfall is expected in northern Rocky Mountain districts.

Thief Drops Ham and Loot in Akron Incident

A burglar, after buying meat with a check, stole $15 from W C Baum the Akron butcher. Police found ham and provisions in a canal lumber yard while chasing possible suspects. Baum later identified the meat as from Fred Laub’s market, with the thief evading capture after paying with a counterfeit or misused payment.

Seniors roughhouse raid disrupts Akron High class social

Three junior boys Ralph Harmiln Harry Billott and Ralph Kryder tried to escort three junior girls to a Friday social at the Fendner home when a crowd of seniors attacked the party. A policeman was summoned and the seniors dispersed the youths leaving the girls to continue to the social.

Athletics Will Enjoy A Room at Buchtel

At a meeting of the Athletic association of Buchtel college on Friday afternoon the offer of Mr Frank Fisher was accepted and a vote of thanks was tendered. Letters will be sent to old students and alumni to raise 800 dollars for Mr Fisher as football coach. A committee was appointed to arrange track events for cups and medals donated by Mr Phelter. Mr Benj Mote was co one captain of the track team.

Widow Would Not Love Him He Will Die

In Columbus on November 8 Homer Cramer, a Fulton Market clerk, shot Almeda Burk in the chest after she refused his love, then killed himself. Almeda, widow of Edward Winters, had reclaimed her maiden name last June amid Crasier’s attempts to force her into marriage. He arrived at her home on Boat Street and carried out the double tragedy.

Buehrle Named Treasurer Of Yellowstone County

Gwen F. Buehrle formerly of Alcon Dut now of Billings Montana has been chosen by his friends for the office of Yellowstone county treasurer. He is a son of Albert Buehrle employed at the Rothskeller. He won on the Democratic ticket by a 135 plurality.
