Proceedings against Hone and Fogarty began but were suspended ten days to resolve election matters.
Mr Robert A Miller postmaster of Ponce Porto Rico visits his mother Mrs Mary Miller of Oak Place. He plans to stay until December 1. He says natives are learning American ways and taxation is understood. Riots are exaggerated street brawls, not serious.
Frank Lewis age 12 son of Mr and Mrs Richard B Lewis of 406 Wabash street was injured in an elevator accident at Walsh block Monday afternoon. He was riding with an older brother who operates the elevator when he became caught between the elevator and the shaft wall between the second and third stories. The car was stopped quickly but the boy suffered a painful leg injury though doctors said no bones were broken. He was carried home in a buggy by Col L and Gibbons.
English fire insurance circles fear American capitalists seek control of major London companies. Morgan group made direct offers but were rejected. An American group quietly bought a Diggit company stake and appears to control it, aiming to cover all marine and other risks through English concerns.

His hat and coat were gone his shirt sleeve torn and muddy his watch and purse missing. He was taken to Dr Rodenbaughs office and later home by W S Robertson. He recalls a fish supper at Gereths with Gus Peck before leaving at dusk then waking on the road with no memory of the assault. Newsroom says police have not been asked to investigate and Mr Peab may be unreachable. Robinson is son of J K Robinson of Chicago treasurer of Diamond Material Co. and both men are well known. The report carries an air of mystery and secrecy surrounding the incident.
City council members debated medical attendance for ill prisoners after a prisoner died shortly after reaching the infirmary. Advocates urged hospital care or a hospital attached to the prison, arguing delirium tremens and other illnesses require proper treatment while in custody.

Washington dispatch reports the annual General Land Office finding by commissioner Binger Herrmann that government land sales and mine receipts for the year ended June 30 exceeded 1901 figures. Receipts totaled 6 201 927.18 dollars, up 1 280 766.90. Land disposals reached 1 048 808 dollars, up 8 095 730 dollars from the prior year.
