Fraterville mine disaster bodies readied for burial
In Creek Tennessee on May 20 the 34 victims of yesterday's Fraterville coal mine explosion lay in a store ready for burial today. A section of Lexch cemetery has been purchased for the dead with a fund planned for a monument. About 500 women and children identified the bodies as rescue teams worked through the night amid a strong odor from the decomposing remains. State Mine Inspector Stirftlett will arrive tonight as the death toll is reported not less than 200 yet to be confirmed.
